Hi, I'm Jeff Humphrey, the Founder and Contest Director of VoicesNet.com, The Voices Network. We started our website in January of 2002 and have grown substantially since that time. We have been working very hard to be one of the best and most credible poetry sites and poetry contests on the Internet.

We have a talented and quickly growing community of writers here at VoicesNet. We have over 1200 Forum members and over 3400 newsletter subscribers. Currently, we receive thousands of poems each month for our quarterly VoicesNet contest.

Our website traffic keeps booming too. On the day that I write this to you, we have had over 13,000 page views on our site, all in one day, a new record day.

Come on in and join us and have some fun. We extend this special invitation to you to enter our poetry contest, visit our writers forum, subscribe to our newsletter, check out our free games, try out our links page, or to try out many other features that are available from VoicesNet.com.

On April 15th of 2003, we mailed out our first VoicesNet Anthology International Poetry Publication book to customers from around the world.

It was a very exciting time realizing that we had finally published our first Poetry Anthology here at VoicesNet.com.

To submit a poem to our Quarterly VoicesNet Anthology International Poetry Competition, just scroll down this page.

Here is basically how our contest works, step by step:

(1) Submit your poem below and wait to hear from us. You are required to provide a valid email address and it is important that you keep it active because that is how we communicate with you.

(2) Your poem will be evaluated by our judges and either selected or declined for publication.

(3) If declined, you will receive a DECLINE email informing you that your poem has been declined for the current quarter. You must then wait until the next quarter until you submit another poem again to our contest.

(4) If your poem is Selected, you will receive a SELECTED email informing you that your poem has been selected for publication in our contest publication for the current quarter.

(5) If your poem is SELECTED and you want it to be included for FREE in our current quarter contest publication, then you must fill out the Permission Slip that was included with your SELECTED email and return it to us by regular (snail) mail.

(6) After our Permission Slip Deadline passes, we will email proofs to the selected poets. The Selected poets are instructed to go to a web page on our site where they can provide any modifications that are needed. Poets usually will have about two weeks to provide any modifications.

(7) Next, from all of the poems SELECTED to be in the current quarter contest publication, our judges choose the best ones and they are designated as FINALISTS. Finalists' names and poem titles are listed on our site forever once chosen and all FINALIST poems are designated as such in the actual publication, too.

(8) From all of the poems chosen as FINALISTS, the Top 3 poems are then chosen. These are the top award winners. The Top 3 winners are then announced on our web site, in our forum, and to thousands in our monthly newsletter. The Top 3 are also, of course, denoted as such in our contest publication.

How and When to Submit

We would like to thank you in advance for your devotion to the development of creative writing endeavors. We ask that you submit your poems and haiku by March 1st, June 1st, September 1st, and December 1st of each calendar year.

Submission Requirements
We have these basic requirements for poems to be considered for publication in the Voices Anthologies®.

Poems must be original works.
Please submit only one poem per poet per quarterly contest.
The poet's full name and email address must be provided.
The poet must be able to be notified via email if their poem has been selected for publication.

There are several criteria used for acceptance of the writing.

First, the poems are divided by age. The younger children are judged by less stringent requirements, as the age of the poet goes up so do the standards for selection.

The editors who read the poems look for originality, rhythmic sounds, rhymes, and audience appeal.

The editors also look for poems where the authors really care about the subjects or trivial subjects approached in a novel way.

We have received poem submissions in our writing competitions from more than 100 Countries:

A., The United States of America), Argentina, Australia, Austria, Bahamas, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Barbados, Bermuda, Bolivia, Bosnia and Hercegovina, Botswana, Brazil, Britain, Bulgaria, Cameroon, Canada, China, Colombia, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, East africa, Egypt, England, Finland, France, Georgian Republic, Germany, Ghana, Great Britain, Guam, Guyana, Hong Kong, Iceland, India, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Jakarta, Jamaica, Japan, Jordan, Kenya, Kuwait, Lebanon, Macedonia, Malaysia, Malta, Mexico, Morocco, N.
