Matchmaker?

Hello guys! I haven't been on VN for so long...its kind of hard to beleive but when I logged on today the site looked so different. This is my first post for the new year.

Well let's start of with some 'old news',the year started of good for me and I'm enjoying my Public Relations classes. I think it's such an interesting area of study, it was totally not what I expected (in a good way). Right now the course I'm studying as part of PR is event co-ordination...this is such and exiciting and hands on course.

So folks right now my plate is as you say, full,,,filled with work, classes, and spending quality time with my wonderful husband and quite lately I've added another item to my to do list. It's something I would not expect to see my self doing,,,and like the title of this post suggest...I'm now a matchmaker! Yes I am.
My brother in law who has been divorced for approx. 2 years...beleive it or not decided that he was confident enough in me that I would find him an appropriate wife.

You may find it strange...but I'm a muslim so dating is kind of not encouraged...its our culture for your family to look for a good spouse for you...although you have the final say if you're interested or not. Therefore he chose me as the person to this for him because he thinks that I have and I quote "better taste". Hmmm, I know some persons who would disagree with that...but what can I say, I can't refuse. And believe me it's a difficult job.

Anyway on another note I have mentioned in an earlier post that my sister has an ovarian cyst...well she finally got a date for the removal surgery, its on the 8th April...so my prayers are with her.

Well it's about time I stop typing...Its 5:34pm now and my husband should be home in about the next 1-2 hours and I'm yet to prepare dinner.

I hope I will be able to post often, so see you soon God willing.

Bye.

Trinidad election update.

Hello guys,,,have you missed me? I know,,I have been missing in action for two months but I'm here now!

The reason for my absence,,well if you have been following the news of Trinidad and Tobago you would have known that yesterday (i.e. Monday) we had our governmental elections. So getting to the point,,I was involved in the campaigning for one of the political parties involved and in so doing I was not able to post here at VN.

Trinidad has parlimentary elections every five years. We normally only have two political parties but this time around we had three. This additional party however sort of predicted the result of the election because it got its supporters from only one of the two many political parties,,,thus splitting the votes and hence allowing the other party to win.

For those of you who are unaware of the situation I would try to clarify:

The two major parties are; 1. PNM (people's national movement)
2. UNC-A (united national congress
alliance).

This year there was the additional of: COP (congress of the people)

The COP supporters came mainly from the UNC-A. One may ask why,,,the answer is,,,Voting in Trinidad regardless of what some may say is done along racial lines. Thus you would fine mainly indians voting for the UNC and mainly africans for the PNM because the parties are led by an indian and african respectfully.

The COP is led by an indian therefore most of there supporters were deflecters from the UNC-A. The PNM supporters didn't really budge and that is where the split came.
Thus allowing the PNM a comfortable victory.

If was was to really analyze the results though you may have found that the UNC-A would have won the elections in the absence of the COP, because if you were to add the UNC-A votes together with the COP votes they would amount to more that the PNM votes. Therefore I would say that although I am a supporter of the PNM (N.B. I'm not african)I beleive that the majority of the people will not be represented.

The COP is a split of the UNC-A. The COP was formed because of an arguement amongst the members of the UNC-A, so in a nutshell they are the same party. And sadly to say because of this disagreement the majority of Trinidad and Tobago would not be represented.

Its been over a month,,,

Hello my fellow bloggers and readers, its been well over a month since I last posted, but there is always a good reason though. I took the time to relax, away from the internet and just rejuvenate myself. I guess that after sitting behind a computer for eight hours a day you just feel to get away and do nothing but clear your mind, do some reflecting and just soak in a bit of the beautiful world around us.
Thats just what I was doing.

I have school starting up again on Monday evening. I'm taking a break from my Tv program to continue my studies.

I'm also doing some matchmaking for my brother in law. He's divorced and wants to meet someone again,,and believe it or not he wants me to help him meet that someone. I guess he has a lot of confidence in me!

Tomorrow is a public holiday here in Trinidad,,,its Independence Day. Trinidad became an Independent nation in 1962,,,before that we were under british rule. So I might go out to see the fireworks at the savannah. (So I'll be sleeping late)

Well goodbye for now, I'm off. My husband will be home soon and I haven't started dinner yet!

Bye.

I'm Good as New

I seemed as though it was a lifetime since I've last posted. Firstly I want to thank all you folks who wished me well after my surgery. That helped a lot during those painful days.

Well you probably figured that I'm much better now,,,yes I am,,,and thank God for that. The pain is basically gone as well as the swelling but I'm still on antibiotics,,I'm off the painkillers though. So in short I'm feeling great,,and I can now resume life as I was before.

During my healing period I was unable to host my television program, so my director said that before I resume he wants to have a 'sit down' so we can discuss some new and alternate angles for the show.
looking forward to that also.

Last but not least I want to thank my husband for all the care and patience he showed me when was down and in pain,,,he was such a darling!

And before I go my fishes are great,,,they are growing,,,and just so soothing to look at.

Bye

A little surgery,,,

Yesterday I had a minor surgery to my tummy.
During the past week I had been experiencing some pain near my navel. I at first thought it was probably gas pains, but then the skin near my navel began to get red and swollen, I went to a nearby pharmacy and I was told to take some pain killers for the pain and to swab the area with rubbing alcohol.

I was kind of sceptical of that treatment and by the night my navel began to ooze both blood and some pus.

I was in such pain by Saturday morning that I went to the hospital (The Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex) and was told that I had an abcess and I needed minor surgery to drain the fluid from the abcess.

Before however they had to take blood samples from me, I also had a urine test and some xrays of my abdomen taken. I had to wait about 3hrs before the blood report came back before they could begin the surgery.

I was fully awake during the operation because there was a lot of accident victims at the hospital and a lack of space, so I was given a lot of local anaesthetic near the area. I could feel when they were cutting and everything but the pain was minimal. in less that one hour it was all over.

Right now I have a big plaster across my tummy and I have a lot of pain. I could barely walk or straighten up. When I sit or lie down I need help to get up again. But I have to change the dresssing tomorrow at the health center.

So I guessed my weekend sucked!,,,Anyway hope your weekend was better!

6 months,,,till a new year

July is upon us,,although the year seems to have just started we are already half way through.

Six months have already gone, and its as if the year only started about 3months ago to me. Time as usual waits on no man. My pray for the month of July is for a reduction of road deaths here in Trinidad. Far too many have died in June.

I also purchased an aquarium today,,,I bought 3 fishes,,, Monday I will buy myself some more. Its just so relaxing to watch them swim, it eases my tension and calms my spirit.

Before I leave, a Happy Independence Day to all my american readers, as I'm not sure if I'll be back here before 4th July.

Hope you all enjoy your day

Love

June,,,a month of sorrow and death

June turned out to be a month of sorrow and will forever be for many families here in Trinidad. One may be wondering why I made that statement since this month is usually associated with blushing brides and great hopes for the future. Sadly however this was not so for Trinidad this year as the joy was greatly overshadowed by death.

During the entire month of June death headlined all our daily newspaper and sadly it was the lives of our young that was lost. What took their lives? Reckless driving. It seemed as though every time I opened a newspaper there was an article relating the death of at least three person in a single accident. What hurt my heart the most is that they were teenagers or in their twenties. They have jjust started to enjoy and live life,,I know this because I am in my twenties and life now seems to be purposeful.

Most of these accidents seem to occur very late at night or in the wee hours of the morning after a night of partying or clubbing. This just goes to show the importance of designating a driver. But some argue to safety of that also after an accident that took place just a few days ago, where a couple of young people hired a taxi to take them home after a night out and he ran a red light and collided with another vehicle causing his car to burst into flames and burning the occupants to death.

So many parents are left to grieve their young ones, the children who they thought would have buried them are leaving them to mourn and suffer the anguish of losing a child, all because of reckless driving.

A peresonal note to all drivers especially young drivers: Take your time, don't drink and drive, always look out for the other driver and most impotantly Arrive Alive!

My condolences to all the grieving families and may God give you the strenght to overcome the pain.

Bye.

What I've been up to lately,,,

Well folks its been a while since I last posted here on VN,,,but I'm back at least for a few minutes!

During my absence I have been quite busy with my television program and work. This month ie the month of June I have dedicated to school leavers so I am focusing on career development and guidance. Last week we did self assessment and yesterday I had a consultant talk about resumes and interviews.

I also reapplied for teaching here in Trinidad because they said that everyone must reapply if they are still interested. So wish me luck.

Whats going on in Trinidad?,,,Well nothing out of the usual,,except the fact that they caught some men plotting to blow up JFK airport,,,I really can't understand why people can focus all their energy towards distruction when if they channel just a fraction of that towards the community so much positive can come from it.

Also Vindra Naipaul family sought of accepted her death and held a memorial service on Sunday last.

And lastly before I go ,,,,election fever is heightening here in Trinidad and Tobago,,,all the parties are doing the usual mudslinging against each other. I however have lost all faith in the present parties since all make promises they can't keep,,,so I for one will not be paying particular attention to their golden promises.

Bye again,,,hope I can drop in again sooner,,,
God Bless!

At last the Rain is here!

A long dry spell was broken yesterday here in Trinidad when the rain came,,,I mean it poured! Its was such a relief. After temperatures like 41 degrees celcius everyone was praying for the rain. I know for sure that the farmers are happy. Personally I think the this was the hottest year I have witnessed.

Today was also rainy,,,in fact I haven't even seen a peek of the sun. It was totally overcast all day. This morning while I was getting to work around 8am it was looking more like 5am.

Anyway all thanks to the Big Guy above for showing us with his mercy!

On Wednesday it will be a public holiday here,,,,its Indian Arrival Day,,,i.e. The day when the first set of indians ffrom India landed on our shores in 1845 aboard the Fatel Razak.

So Happy Indian Arrival Day everyone!

Bye

A sad,,,but expected end

They news came yesterday but I guessed it was what everyone expected since so much time have gone by. For the family however it was still probably unbelievable.

Yesterday police confirmed that Vindra Naipaul was in fact murdered and a number of people were arrested on charges relating to her murder. The evidence that the police have the indicates that the woman was killed was the blood that matched her DNA in a makeshift grave. He body was not found however but positive samples of her blood were found at the site of a shallow grave. Since this development one person have reportedly confessed to helping with killing her and chopping up her body into small pieces.

Police have not yet release any motive for such a seemingly senseless killing.

My heart and sympathies goes out to her family at such a trying time.
