Poem

What will be your Legacy?

What will be your Legacy?

Hundreds of players have played on this heavenly surface.
Hundreds of players have played this game for one simple purpose.

The thrill of victory, the agony of defeat and everything in between.
The blood, sweat and tears and remarkable games have been seen.

It’s 1st and ten, 4th and goal. Why not attempt the field goal.
It’s the goal line stand. Hey watch out for the band.

Football is a game played by warriors, renegades, and savages.
Football is a game played by boys and men of any age.

When all is said and done, there is just one question to be answered
What will be your legacy?

The field is lined ever so perfectly like a picture from Van Gogh.
The field is lit by bright lights in order to see the great show.

The trenches, hash marks and the red zone.
The safeties, interceptions and all the touchdowns thrown.

Players of the past who have changed the game.
The list goes on and on, who’s the right ones to name?

Walton “Sweetness” Payton, “Neon” Deion Sanders and “Broadway” Joe
Jevon “The Freak” Kearse, Dick “Night Train” Lane and Lou “The Toe”

When all is said and done, there is just one question to be answered
What will be your legacy?

The so-called inferior have conquered and stood tall.
Champions are made on Sundays in fall.

Blood has been shed out on the battlefield.
There is no place to run and you are given nothing for shield.

Players have triumphed and players have failed to succeed.
No matter how hard they fall they get up and proceed.

One day Football will come to an end for all.
That’s when our Champions above all will stand tall.

When all is said and done, there is just one question to be answered
What will be your legacy?
