Island, a poem by Dr Ronald Eugene Shultz, USA

Island
They say no man is an island and that may be true,But an island is the place I need to go to.I have never fit into society's mainstreamSo to have my own island is my dream.I have never been lucky at love or at cards.I have no money and my heart's broken into shards.I have been fighting a losing battle since day one.For sure, this old life's been anything but fun.I always wanted to be part of the gang and belong.I just can't seem to help singing a different song.It is just impossible for me to be a clone. So like the howling wolf, I'll just walk alone.I'll just take a dog,a computer and a fishing poleAnd spend my life meditating upon the soul.Just give me an island where I can get some rest.I'll sing my songs to the moon and feel completely blest.Jul 22, 1992
