Poem

Too Many Times

Too many times were people starving, thirsty,
begging for good at the feet of their captors.

Too many times.

Too many times empty holsters
stopped the hearts of innocent people.

Too many times.

Too many times have lungs engulfed the wretched stench of poison.

Too many times.

Too many times, the smell of burning internals,
bones, and children have been made at the hands of a human.

Too many times.

It takes a mad man to not recognize
that people’s lives have been taken, too many times.
