FADING RAINBOWS
We gaze at its beautyArched across the horizonWelcoming its appearanceAfter a storm or shower,Ribbons layered;Shades of violet, orange, lemon yellow, crimson, green,Colors welcomedOften seenPerennially positive, Nature's displayAfter a day of placid gray,We watch;Colors fade into the skyGone,Forgotten nowUntilWe next partakeIn the reflection of Its beauty from the sun,We constantly seek our own rainbows;Eager for the arch to appearRelishing in the beautyOur eyes achingAs we see the rainbow fadeAlwaysSearchingFor the next rainbow.Nancy Ellen Crossland11/03/2009
