Poem

Give Me My Reality

I’ve been sitting, waiting,
All I want to hear is your voice,
All I want is to know you’re there,
Not by mine but by your choice.

I’ve been watching, wondering,
If you’ll ever decide to rock up,
Show me that you’ll stay,
Help me to wake up.

Waiting for a knock on my door, Wake me up;
I need that breath of fresh air.
Come and shake my shoulder,
I like this dream but I can't survive much longer in fantasy's lair.

I need reality, oh,
Give me reality.
Life's not a thrill when the risks can't kill.
Give me back my reality,
The hurts that can mar and scar me,
The love that can make or break me,
Give me back my reality.

I’ll stand by this door,
Door back to reality,
I’ll wait for you to open it,
Pull me through eventually.

Waiting for a knock on my door, Wake me up;
I need, I need that breath of fresh air.
Come and shake my shoulder,
I like this dream but I can't survive much longer in fantasy's lair.

I need reality, oh,
Give me reality.
Life's not a thrill when the risks can't kill.
Give me back my reality,
The hurts that can mar and scar me,
The love that can make or break me,
Give me back my reality.

This dream is dragging me away,
I want to jump back down and say:
‘I’m not gonna leave this life
With an idea of what I’d like it to be
‘I’m gonna leave this world
With a knowing that I’ve lived free,
‘With a knowing that I made it mine,
But lived it for others,
‘I made it what I thought it should be,
And now no regrets hover.’

I need reality, oh,
Give me reality.
Life's not a thrill when the risks can't kill.
Give me back my reality,
The hurts that can mar and scar me,
The love that can make or break me,
Give me back my reality
My reality,
Give me back my
My reality.
