Poem

object of my loving

Try as I may, I cannot restrain it;
Countless rejections failing to conquer it.
It laughs in my face, as I try to suppress it.
Gallantly, I concede defeat, for I cannot defeat it.

Never ending dreams, whispery words spur me,
To claim a longing that has mysteriously found me.
As panoply of cupid’s arrows besiege me,
I wonder why one shot wasn’t enough for me.

I had always wondered what was to be my destiny,
Silently hoping happiness sought me eternally.
In whatever form, I promised accepting it completely.
Little did I know that it was to be shrouded in such beauty.

I had always thought beauties lacked a tender heart,
A tool to break foolish hearts apart.
A punishment of deserved melancholy and hurt
For those myopically cursed from the start.

Oh! How wrong I was, how wrong I was.
Oh! Object of my loving, I am at a loss.
So beautiful, so innocent; surely not a curse,
For I have found you worthy of a noble cause.

Though you reject me, it is not out of spite.
This I know from your unexplainable light,
Urging me further every day, every night.
Telling me to keep you perpetually in my sight.

Oh! Object of my loving, it’s been long, it’s been ages,
A fact attested by my mental journal’s pages.
Yet it seems like yesterday, even as I turn the pages.
Innumerable moments with you in my mind, never ceases.

I cannot hate you because you’ve failed to give,
Your heart is yours: yours to give.
I may have given you mine, as an eternal gift,
Yet this act is what makes my soul want to live.

I cannot despise you for giving me limited time,
The little I got, I will treasure like a gold mine;
And sip its essence like an ambrosial wine,
In such a manner to last a lifetime.

Oh! Object of my loving! Happiness has found me,
One that is here to stay, my heart assure me.
A happiness, loving you has brought to me.
Surely, my silent wish has been granted me.

If my life, even at this stage, seems fulfilled,
The day you offer your heart will be the seal:
Unimaginable bliss, moments so surreal?
How would it be? Oh! How would it feel?

As sure as the sun rises each day,
I’m sure we’d share inexhaustible gains.
As sure as blessings come with the falling rain,
I’m sure we’d come to conquer our pains.

Till the moment when my dream come true,
I will continue to celebrate the day I found you.
As long as my heart lives and resides with you,
There’d e a daily flame lighted in its stead for you.

As long as dreams come true, no matter how odd,
My words, my heart, my pen, shall profess my love.
As long as my heart is sustained from above,
Oh! Object of my loving, then you I shall eternally love.
