LISA'S STORY
Wheels are rolling, the train rattles on.Ebbs and tides of memories, conversations Of the past rebound like echoes in my head.Childhood – the carefree and innocent years.Adolescence – the dilemmatic years of self discovery. This is my story.Tender hands exchange sweets on the playground.Mouths overflow with crazy laughter.A solitary figure lurks in the corner,Away from the derision and jeers.Time flies, years roll on, I’m thirteen after all.I stand by and watch; the procession glides past.Pink pouting lips, cascading hair, and long limbs slip past.I long to step in, reprimanding hands shuffle me aside:I’m branded a misfit. Then it’s career choice; I’m at the crossroads:Boundless clamours erupt in my head:Away with your silly ideas, go be a doctor, I’m told. But I grit my teeth, and, this time, refuse to give in.I see myself from a new perspective.I make my world a world of differenceUnadulterated by the thoughts of men. I am who I am in spite of the worldThe train purrs on as life goes on.
