CHANGING SEASONS

the autumn leaves have adorned
her naked child who died
his legacy so rudely scorned
all because the summer lied-
then with the fall of winter rain
comes a bridge to cross the pain
for what was and now is lost
lays deep beneath the bitter frost-
no matter how hard we try or ponder
the past lays for ever yonder –
but in the spring the earth will bear
a new beginning of promise sweet
and a plead for her new child to dare
to be part of the eternal beat –
and so the story goes of seasons very old
and behold for in it a valuable lesson told
what was and what is yet to bare
in joy or sorrow we all have share
