MEMORY
This cluttered mass that lingers in my thoughtDirecting me in purpose and in actionHouses every piece of knowledge I’ve been taughtIn here resides my source of mental traction.Arranged into a poignant disarrayThis structure that is infinitely growingIs solid, though indeed its edges frayIt’s nourished by the human ways of knowing. This organ does not feed my lungs or heartI’ve laid in it the layers of my lifeFrom the instant that I had my earthly startUntil at last I meet with Death’s dark knife. But I won’t be saddened when it has come undone,For I won’t remember that I ever had one.
