LOST INNOCENCE

Protruding out of broken vessels overflowing
with passion wasted, that upon arousal growing

beyond control so flared up to consume her soul,
lies shattered fragments once reflecting something whole,

but now are pieces scattered all around for all
the world to see. The images hazardly befall

her, ridiculing lost ambitions, dreams, and pride
of character and spirit, seemingly to hide

the hard reality, but only serving hurt
to gnaw at her false heart and guilt to build a curt

but strengthened wall around the crystal unicorn
of seeming fancy. Oh, how shiny was that worn

befuddled chalice, drenched with wine of red desire!
She sips it only once to feel the burning fire

rage down her throat, consuming everything in sight,
yes, even her own soul. A spark, the glowing light

of one small star so faintly twinkling in a sea
of darkness soon ignites, thus causing her ebony

heart inside her cell to turn a dazzling white and melt
the bars that block the flood of passion never felt.

Released, the overwhelming flood soon fills the cell
and everything around it, starting then to quell

the fire while pressure mounts until the vessel bursts
and leaves the residue of broken dreams and bursts

and leaves the pieces scarred of that reflecting glass
that now remains no more intact. A mangled mass

is then portrayed instead of one whole soul by bits
of memory sore bled of that long night of fits

of love. No more will that arousal wild be found
in that dark celled abyss where tinkling mirrors sound.
