ETERNITY
Some things never changeThe smile on a mother’s face on seeing her new bornThe first rays of sunlight after the dark nightThe bustle of the crazy city life at peak timeA dog’s trusting brown eyesYet Hiroshima saw it all changeLike Iraq is seeing nowIs War the only eternal truth? The one unchanging reality of humankind? The mother still smiles in HiroshimaThe sun again comes out with joyOnce again people hurry on with urban existenceThe dog still looks on with faith and trustIn Iraq too all will be wellOne dayAfter the mad urge to destroy diesOr takes birth in some other part of the world?Like God delivers Death as the endWe, made in His reflection, also do our bitTo make sure peace is only a surreal break To be enjoyed in between the angstOf losing all by destructionThe Maker and the Made – we are part of the WholeSome things never change
