| Iris Barquin | Hi Yasmin. My name is Iris Barquin & I left message regarding your poem back on the 11th of April in 2007. I live in the U.S.A. & the time I wrote to you I believe was 11:39 p.m. I thought your poem was great. Well, today I just so happened to Google my last name & I saw that my name was on a website so I clicked on it & to my amazement I was back on your page! I thought that was great cause I also saw that you replied to my message. Well, you asked what my background was & here it is...my mother is full Mexican & my Father is 1/2 Mexican & 1/2 Spanish. My great-grandparents came to Mexico from Spain & that is where my Grandfather & father were born. So yea I guess that makes my Dad 1/2 & 1/2 Spanish & Mexican. Unfortunately I don't know anything about my ancestors from Spain. I did however try & do some investigating of my own but I haven't gotten anywhere with it yet. So, what is your background & do you still live in Spain? Oh! I would love to visit Spain one day...I hear it is beautiful! My family and I are going through a lot now. He's been in there now almost 2 years. They keep cancelling his trial. But. tomorrow we will finally find out what they are going to do with him. I miss my brother so much and I hope and pray that things go well. I miss his jokes he use to tell me. He has a daughter that he will probably not see anymore. Hello. My name is Iris. When I read your poem my heart was racing. First of all I want to let you know that this poem is so beautiful and it really touched my heart. Secondly, I wasn't sure if I was dreaming when I saw your name and what your poem was about because we both have this tragedy in common. My brother also died. He passed away on July 30, 2006.He was only 37 years old. The second thing that got my attention is that we both have the same last name. My last name is also Barquin. I just thought that that was pretty weird that we both had brothers that passed away and our last names are the same. I live in California and I don't know anyone else that shares my last name besides my cousins from my Dad's brother. Thank you for sharing this poem with us and I truly appreciate it.
