MY AUNT

My parents brought my aunt over last Monday
She looked really sick
She had come with her two children
The journey wasn’t that quick

She had lost weight
We knew she wasn’t well
She looked really skinny
Everyone could tell

She wasn’t in her right mind
So we talked to her with care
She was delirious
So we tried not to stare

Everything we did
Made her irritated
She kept correcting us
She looked agitated

My mum tried her best
To help my aunt
Even when we tried to hug her
She would put on a stunt

Her children were scared
They started to cry
We had to help them through this
We had to try

She has attacked my mum
In the middle of the night
My dad came to her rescue
Things turned out alright

Her husband was in Nigeria
As all this took place
He couldn’t sleep for three nights
Until he could see her face to face

She had to go to hospital
We didn’t know how long it would be
My mum took her clothes and food
All she was saying was wait and see

I went to check on her in the hospital
To see if she was alright
She seemed okay
The future looked bright

Then out of nowhere
She started complaining
Saying that me looking at the other patients
Prevented her from concentrating

She spoke to her husband on my mum'S phone
Complaining about me,
she was delirious
My mum tried to take the phone off her
I thought this can’t be serious

My aunt came out of hospital
She seemed to be okay
She is now at home with her family
Thank God things turned this way
