PROUD AND TALL
Off he goes to war now My mother's father's sonFar away he leaves proudMay he please not be outdoneA gun upon his shoulderHe wears a prideful grinHes going to fight some "martyrs"Who will only die from sinShe raised him to be an angelMy mother's brother dearThough the enemy he's supposed to mangleWith other potential angels, so very close and near"Why?" they ask,"Must this be done?""Can't they talk it out?"Today they sent her one and onlyHer sweet young innocent sonFamilies cry for loved ones goneWith strengthening prayers of lovePulses of pain bring short faint moansWeaker yet he working hard in order to liveWorking hard he reaches baseHis friends will help him out!Meds and bandages cover his faceThe doctors were in doubtNow he works a full time jobMedal on his wallWith a family and kids His pride is thick and he still stands proud and tall
