THANK YOU
I wish a happy mother's dayTo a Nan who’s beautiful and kind Just to say a great big thank youFor the love in you I find You say “they do see through wrappers”And if I was wearing one nowYou would see that you are in my heartAnd I love you is what it shoutsYou are like a mother to meAnd you treat me like your ownYou are both second parents to me Who live in my first home You still have all my booksAnd material from my dressThe handprints are gone from the wallBut the memories are still fresh You taught me how to knit and bakeAnd how to darn a sockYou taught me how to tidy my roomBut that one - I’ve forgot!!I hope to make you proud somedaySo you can say “that’s our girl”I’m not doing so well at the minuteBut one day I’ll be on top of the worldAnd you will be there with meYou and granddad both I promise you that, this dayAnd that’s a solemn oathYou are like the sun aboveSpreading warmth where you goThat warmth is guidance, love, and careAnd thanks to you I’m never coldWhen I was a little girlI wanted to grow up just like youI’m happy to say that now I don’tFor there could be no other like youI hope this poem makes you happyIn years from this dayJust to let you know I love youAnd have a happy mother's day
