THE END OF SUMMER
The summer days are fading, as they mustFrom endless hours to short and fleeting lightThe bird's once bright, immortal tune, now criesA melancholy aura to the duskThe children fiercely climb, and dream, and raceBefore their wild and unchained days departAnd yet beneath the zeal lies a half heartFor there isn't time, there's only enough spaceThe sun seems low, a hazy orange sphereNow reminiscing sweetly of the daysWhen endlessly before you summer layAnd as in the deep, crimson dusk you stirYour soul joins with the birds in wistful broodCrying for lost summer days, for childhood
