DREAM, a poem by Alicia Kristine Smith, USA

DREAM
As the night grows silent,I delicately watch you sleepwith such tender breathingon the grass in your backyard.I'm afraid that if I touch you, you'll break.Your catching smile signifies you're dreaming things I could not.I try to remember why you're so important to me.A list appears without effort. It's not hard.I cautiously lift my cold fingers, and air is the only thing that separates them from your smooth face. You stir.My thoughts shift back to the reality that I'm too close.Baby blue eyes lock me into their spell. We stay that way for a few precious seconds. You don't seem disturbed by the fact that I was secretly watching you. From my window, I saw you lying alone, and went over to keep you company. You touch your fingertips with mine that were left inmid-air."I dreamt something spectacular," you whispered gently.I melted at the sound of your voice, and wondered what you thought about me.How do you feel?My gaze couldn't come off our touch."You know what it was?" you asked in the same tone.I looked back into your crystal eyes, wondering, but said nothing."This."You smiled as you leaned closerand finallykissed me.
