UNCLE
Off he goes to war nowMy mother's father's sonFar away he leaves proudMay he please not be outdoneA gun upon his shoulderHe wears a prideful grinHe's going to fight some "martyrs"Who will only die from sinShe raised him to be an angelMy mother's mother dearThrough the enemy he's s'posed to mangleWith other potential angels, so very close and near"Why?" They ask "Must this be done?""Can't they talk it out?" Today, they sent her one and only Her sweet young innocent sonFamilies cry for loved ones goneWith strengthening prayers of lovePulses of pain bring short faint moansWeaker yet, he's fighting just to liveWorking hard, he reaches baseHis friends will help him out!Meds and bandages cover his faceThe doctors were in doubtNow he works a full time job,Medals on his wall. With a wife and kids, his pride is thick,And he still stands proud and tall
