IN MEMORY OF OUR MOTHER
The room was filled with sadnessHer life we asked to spareThe thought of losing our motherWas more than we could bearShe was ready to take a journeyThat was hard for us to faceWith heaven her destinationHer sight on a better placeMy brother and I were with herOur sister with our ailing dadMother knew someone was missingStill we huddled beside her bedThe time went by so slowlyAnd we had to wonder whyWho could she be waiting forWas it really her time to dieThen our sister who was absentSuddenly walked into the roomOur spirits were upliftedAnd God eased our mourning gloomWe quoted the 23rd Psalms from the bibleAnd then we begin to singA calmness descended upon usAs an angle unfolded her wingsBefore our song was overWe knew her fate was deathShe went to be with JesusAs she drew her final breathWe told our mother we loved herAnd we wanted her to knowEven though our lives were shatteredIt was OK for her to goShe had been a shining exampleAnd we hoped to do the sameOur hurt is overwhelmingBut our loss is heaven's gainMother took that trip she wantedIt was so very hard to partAnd before she left we told herYou will "forever live in our hearts"
