A STARFISH

I felt like a baby being rocked gently back and
forth in a cradle, as the boat met personally
each and every wave.
In the air was a fishy smell, mixed in with chocolate from the Reese's Pieces I had just swallowed.
In the background was the humming of the boat motor, and the peaceful sound of the waves lapping against the
boat.
I had just pulled in my fishing line to
check it, and what I saw was bizarre.
My first thought was to make a wish, as a star
with five points had fallen out of the heavens.
The star was the same color as the sun setting at
the end of another busy day.
As I unhooked the huge starfish, it felt course, and reminded me of sandpaper.
As I throw the starfish back into the muddy sea, I said a prayer...
That this fish would not become rare, and that someday I would be back to share this moment with another generation.
