The night stars shimmer high overhead The crisp night air fills your lung Outside the flakes fall lightly All around you carols are sung Inside the fire burns and the coals glow The smell of marshmllows fills the air The warmth is so refreshing, If only you were there You pass the windows and the Christmas lights The families with smiling faces And wish for just a moment That you could just trade places A stranger passes you on the street, Begging you for a meal It is then that you realize Things are not as bad as they feel Although you have only spare change You give the man everything This is truly the meaning of Christmas, In return you ask for not a thing
