Wheels are rolling, the train rattles on. Ebbs and tides of memories, conversations Of the past rebound like echoes in my head. Childhood – the carefree and innocent years. Adolescence – the dilemmatic years of self-discovery. This is my story. Tender hands exchange sweets on the playground. Mouths overflow with crazy laughter. A solitary figure lurks in the corner, Away from the derision and jeers. Time flies, years roll on, I’m thirteen after all. I stand by and watch; the procession glides past. Pink pouting lips, cascading hair, and long limbs slip past. I long to step in, reprimanding hands shuffle me aside: I’m branded a misfit. Then it’s career choice; I’m at the crossroads: Boundless clamours erupt in my head: Away with your silly ideas, go be a doctor, I’m told. But I grit my teeth, and, this time, refuse to give in. I see myself from a new perspective. I make my world a world of difference Unadulterated by the thoughts of men. I am who I am in spite of the world The train purrs on as life goes on.
