“Pebbles Like Boulders” Copyright c 2003 Amanda Byers Misunderstood words tossed about onto the sea of hopes and dreams; Giving cause to tidal wave, disparagingly dragging into dark depths all longings, all hope. The sea swells, tugging the sole; division, Overshadowing intended meaning, turning, twisting about until all clarity is lost. Trusted truths becoming mistrusted losses. Beyond the swells, longing for understanding to cure the division of sole from body; as promised, to me, but to be no more. Becoming dark, deeply sadden breaks of trust. Truths lost, words tossed like pebbles from the sea, but landing as heavy boulders in my hands and on my heart, crushing, pushing you just out of reach, no cure to find. No more time to quite the angry sea, for you and me. Gone.
