This adventure is one way To play with the idea Of changing One’s character I made a promise to myself This would be the year As the clocks still ticking The involuntary rise of the sun Still amazes me While the loss of light at sundown Strikes the curiosity of when the World will shine again Led by example The foundations been laid Though we rarely look to the past For answers why would our Patriarchs and Matriarchs Know better Life so often throws curveballs And I don’t even like baseball The play is slow We do things fast these day’s Fast cars, fast women I remember when things were Less complicated Though maybe it was a past life Time spent by the river Where not even the splendor of My best dreams could Match the colors of that day When we find conflict of Body and soul There is bound to be confusion The pleasure of instant gratification Only gives temporary satisfaction Love thy neighbor as thyself Though I’ve lived next to You for years I don’t even know your name The more pleasures we create the more Pains that we need to comfort Stability now that’s a word to shot for Though words like that Don’t come cheap The best thing in life Is life Socially shaped by things And people that were in Last season Most never fit in The materialistic phenomenon We so proudly call home Makes you feel like less Of a man I look to strangers in time of need As they provide me with lessons Food stamps can’t buy Look to thyself Separated from god Though you could never Be separate The illusion of particles dancing Leaves most feeling dark, even scarred The loneliness that’s almost unbearable Is only temporary That’s’ where it happens Forced to look inside where That thing loves to hide You know that thing That thing you’ve been Looking for That thing that makes you smile That thing that got me out of bed this morning I turned it in to lost and found although I almost kept it The hope for future generations Is a thing of the past Though we still have hope To use tomorrow and If lucky the day after that To do the right thing To right the wrong To try harder than our best To be the person I know you are Because I’m sorry to tell you That thing you lost is Yourself!
