Web Words Youth Poetry Competition We
offer the VoicesNet Web Words Youth Poetry Competition three times each year.
These
contests are free to enter. Poems

Goal VoicesNet®
has become an inspirational writers' organization that is advocating literacy
programs around the world. VoicesNet offers many free programs that writers can
participate in to grow their writing skills. International
youth who are 18 and under can submit your poetry to us here at our website to
be considered for publication in the Web Words Publication. We
notify young authors of the results of their poem judging by email and young authors
can also look up the results in real-time from our state of the art website. Who
is Eligible? Poets who are
18 or under during the 4 month contest period are eligible and all styles of poetry
are acceptable. "Voices
Anthology - The International Poetry Competition" Book The
book is an 8.5" by 5.5" typeset book of approximately 150 pages. The
book is professionally bound with a "perfect" binding, which is a glued
back binding typical of most paperbacks. The
VoicesNet Anthology book is available in softcover or a beautiful hardcover edition.
We can ship the books all
over the world. We do charge a little more for shipments outside of the US, but
the difference is minimal. We
would like to extend our personal guarantee of the book's quality. If you are
not completely satisfied, please send the book back and we will promptly refund
your money. Special Note:
A book does not have to be ordered for an author to be published in our competition
book. How and When to Submit
We ask that you submit your
poems by January 1st, May 1st, and September 1st of each calendar year. Submission
Requirements We have these basic requirements for poems to be considered for
publication in "VoicesNet Web Words Youth Poetry Competition".
Poems must be original works. Only
one poem selected per poet per contest is allowed. A
poem can only be submitted to one of our contests at a time. The
poet's full name (or pen name), age, country, and an always active email address
must be provided. The poet
must be able to be notified via email of the results of the judging of their poem. Once
notified of selection, a poet must fill out and return a signed permission slip,
along with parental permission if they are under 18 years of age. There
are several criteria used for acceptance of the writing. The
younger children are judged by less stringent requirements, as the age of the
poet goes up so do the standards for selection.
The judges who read the poems look for originality, rhythmic sounds, rhymes, and
audience appeal. The judges
also look for poems where the authors really care about the subjects or trivial
subjects approached in a novel way. Poems
are looked at in the categories of: Creativity, English usage, Grammar/Punctuation,
Readability, Pure Entertainment Value, and Cultural Significance. |
