The Start of the Year 2006 in LondonFew hours remain of two thousand and fiveas the coming year is about to arriveDetermined to welcome the new year inalong with songs for all to singWithin the walls of the Public Homeupon the ground where so many roamSpirits are served throughout the dayinviting those with ambition to stayAchievements reached throughout the yearplus interest shown to persevereDuring the period close at handwith yet much more to understandThe hours of daylight start to fadereplaced by audio and visual aidA gathering of folk throughout the strandforms as planned, with a great expandAll there to see the moment arrivewith striking displays of fireworks aliveAround such structure of the groundto be well lit up by light and soundDarkness falls together with timeas more folk arrive to hear the chimbOf the thirteen ton bell hanging withinthe well known landmark and due to beginAll is so silent and so very stillA COUNTDOWN begins and adds to the thrillTEN seconds remain of the long hourNINE seconds pronounced with such powerEIGHT seconds reached in the declineSEVEN seconds left to the deadlineSIX seconds to go with the flowFIVE seconds linger to the showFOUR seconds of time to persevereTHREE seconds away from such a cheerTWO seconds from the chimbs of Big BenONE second now to the start yet againThe STRIKE of the bell HEARD all aroundalmost cut out by CHEERS that are foundOf two hundred thousand spectators to seeand welcome the new year in by the quayA fire-work display, so well plannedpresents such a picture in full demandSo many colours there on showtogether with sound to state "HELLO"Reflections within the Thames do appearas a show of rockets light up in full gearVarious colours, yellow and bluefollowed by such as green and red tooEventually reaching in silence brought bysearch lights upon the Millennium EyeAll adding more to the London displayand opening two thousand and six today
