 Poem:

OUR MOTHER’S EYES

Our Mother’s Eyes

From the time we yell out our first song
Into the tender arms of love, we are born
Held and protected from harm
Her soothing voice calms us down
From a lullaby we remember the tune
It was not so long ago
But we were still only her child
From the first words we say
And till the last breathe we take
We remember only her face and voice
That she be there to take away our pain
And nurse them back again
No matter what we say
Sometimes in hurtful ways
She accepts with an open heart
That sometimes even her perfect children fall
And forgiving them is never in doubt
But she there again no matter what
How old we gain in age
And the problems we faced
For the cruel world bring much hate
But to find first love
We go back to a time
When her smile brought back life
And never are we that far away
To call to say the simple things
We miss when we were young
Now old and sometimes grey
We still be that child to stay
Cradle within the arms of love
For we never grew up
In our mother’s eyes
Her child we be, till we die
