 Poem:

HOLDING ON

Day by day, I was faced with a battle
My weakness and vulnerability caused my frequent stumble
I searched for an outstretched arm that might free me from being forlorn
My heart my conceding, I was scared I couldn’t go on

I found a hand or two
Trying to grab me from the quicksand I was trapped into
Likewise, they were held captive by the thief that caused me to mourn
My heart was conceding, I was scared I couldn’t go on.

I was falling into the pit of loneliness, bitterness and pride
I made a deafening cry that swirled only in mind
Nobody could notice, nobody harkened my moan
My soul was conceding, I knew I couldn’t go on

I let lose of the grip that kept me from falling
Not knowing where to end up until I felt someone on me holding
He said His name was JESUS, the son of God who was crucified for a cause
A sudden spark…my soul that was conceding began to feel the Holy Ghost

At once, I felt at ease, free from the pit that incarcerated my soul
I thought my stubborn heart had to pay its toll
But when I heard Jesus’ call
I replied ‘Lord, I will give you my all."
