 Poem:

FOR THE NOT SO YOUNG

The toothless smile, radiating joy,
captivating everyone around,
Gleaming freshness of blossom
that lingers.

The same toothless smile,
no longer attractive,
gets a sympathetic look, at times.
Often, dismissed!

The power of attraction
later, a burden to reckon with.
A kind word of concern,
A benevolent smile relieves.

Hema Ravi, July 4, 2009

Hema RaviThanks, Ros and Marcia for expressing similar views. Often, it is a lonely existence for these young at heart people. They need a lot of companionship.India7/15/2009 6:01:11 AM

ROS SHRAPNELHema - how that very same smile changes as life progresses. Dealing with life's pressures was not meant to be easy, nor was it intended for the faint hearted. Indeed the benevolent smile makes it quite the reward! A heartfelt verse, enjoyable to read. Cheers my friend.Australia7/14/2009 7:51:15 AM
