Poem: |
AUTUMN
|
| |
The summer’s golden days are at an end,
The trees now seem to shiver with the cold,
Their leaves towards the ground softly descend
And spatter lawns with crimson, bronze and gold.
The ground, once flower-strewn, with frost is white
And crisp beneath my feet; while in the sky
Dark, gloomy clouds will often dim the light
And bring the thought of showers ever nigh.
A few last roses hang upon their bush
Reminding me of glories now well past.
To fly to warmer lands geese make a push,
I sigh that winter’s cold approaches fast.
But then, the poet’s words steal through my mind:
“If winter comes, can Spring be far behind?”
