 Poem:

A TEACHER

It is not easy being a teacher
Standing in front of adolescent teens
Transferring to them, your skills
Is not a walk in the park
Especially when they chat…
Behind your back!

Being a teacher means teaching
Teaching both the willing and unwilling
It means repeating yourself, as many times as possible
In a voice so soft and audible
In order to be understood by all
Being a teacher means absorbing your frustrations
By remembering your obligations

Being a teacher means assuring the late bloomers
A bright future
And at the same time, ensure that the bright
Work hard to stay bright
Being a teacher is not an easy task!
And to the teachers I say thumbs up!

This poem is excellent. You are right, it is not easy to be a teacher, but it is a great commitment and also it is amazing when you can teach someone who does not have knowledge in any area and you can provide that opportunity to open a door of the intelectuality. Excelent job! I am a school counselor and I admire the teachers, because I don't know how they can do it. Well I know, with love and believing in that child that look at you with hope. D. hemaThumbs up indeed! I fully endorse your views. The path is difficult, but not as much when the passion and love is there. The teacher's word is taken as sacrosanct....so the teacher has to walk her talk! Thanks for the lovely poem.india7/7/2008 8:16:17 AM
