you as to where you are bound.
The journey of life is a long, dusty and rocky road
May the path you choose lead you where you want to go.
Remember that knowledge is the most important key
To what you want in life and being who you want to be.
As you plan your future and make challenging decisions
Pursue and achieve your goals walking proud with ambition.
Never accept defeat over circumstances that may rise
Accomplish your mission using judgment that is wise.
There will be expectations that you will have to learn
But in due time you will receive credit you have earned.
Look ahead without fear into the great unknown
Opportunities are waiting for you to find and own.
Days will pass and weeks add up to years passing by
You can succeed in anything but only if you try.
Good luck to you in whatever you choose to do
Acquiring what’s wanted in life and making dreams come true.

SIMPLE GESTURES by Nora Hetrick

Some happy little words to say,
This can brighten a person’s day.
As we pass along their way,
Make them feel merry and gay.
[Say something nice to someone]

Kind in face we can be,
Is the way for to see.
Why not show this to be,
How about you or maybe me?
[Smile at a frowning face]

Helping is the right to do,
Why not me and also you?
Do a thing or possibly two,
For some person no matter who.
[Do a good deed or give to in need]
IN - LAWS by Nora Hetrick

MOTHER – IN LAW
You have always been very kind to me,
I know that’s the way it’s supposed to be.
You showed me right off from in the start,
That I belong in the family as if a part.
Conversations we’ve shared as if good friends,
How long will they last I guess it depends.
I have married your son with blessings to last,
Hopefully I pray our love will never pass.
The name we both share I will carry with pride,
And my feelings for you I shall not hide.
With care and concern I will always think of you,
Along with some love that you have got due.

FATHER – IN LAW
I do not know you very well,
But to me it seems like you are swell.
You have welcomed me into your home,
And you do not make me feel alone.
Since I married your son that day,
You have treated me nice in every way.
It’s a pleasure to see your smiling face,
When we come to visit at your place.
I am sorry we do not visit very much,
But at least we try to stay in touch.
Remembering you will not be very hard,
Because I give you love from my heart.
COMPROMISING by Nora Hetrick

I’m willing to go halfway
If you’ll meet me there.
I’ll tell you what I’m thinking
If you’ll share your thoughts.
I’m willing to change some ways
If you’ll do the same.
I’ll do what you want
If you’ll give in to me.
I’m willing to follow you
If you’ll let me lead sometimes.
I’ll give you all my love
If you’ll keep it in your heart.
I’m willing to make commitment
If you’ll forsake all others.
I’ll always be true to you
If you’ll be faithful in return.
I’m willing to combine our souls
If you’ll protect them from harm.
I’ll forever be at your side
If you’ll eternally hold my hand.
RELIABLE by Nora Hetrick

A friend is someone
you can count on
no matter what the need.
A friend is someone
you can talk to
no matter what it be.
A friend is someone
who will be there
no matter what the distance.
A friend is someone
who will always listen
no matter what the consistence.
A friend is someone
you can really trust
no matter what the way.
A friend is someone
you can be true with
no matter what you say.
DESPONDENCY by Nora Hetrick

Sometimes I do not care
what tomorrow will be like.
I sit and think in despair
and of all the crazy psyche.
Sometimes I’m so depressed
as to what there has been.
I wish I was not so stressed
and my patients were not so thin.
Sometimes I will look ahead
with doubtfulness in my mind.
I do not want to always dread
and go through life in such a bind.
Sometimes I can forget about
the anguish I feel inside.
I try to set aside any doubts
and fill my thoughts with satisfied.
Sometimes I know the problem
then other times I do not.
I look for an answer to them
and hope to find what is sought.
MUSTANG MARE by Nora Hetrick

My little Sheba
so wild and free,
A name I gave
just for me.
Coal black and shiny
as can be,
Standing in the sunlight
away from the trees.
Her mane flows long
as she runs through the breeze,
What a sight to capture
with beauty to please.
The thought of having her
is a mindful tease,
But she belongs in the open
not to be ceased.
MY BELOVED GRANDMOTHER by Nora Hetrick

As I grew up you were always there for me,
You were more like a mother that’s what I see.
So sweet and gentle but you could also be firm,
With so much love to give without any terms.
All of the doing was as much as you could,
It was always more than you have should.
I will always remember you deep in my heart,
The love I have for you could never be torn apart.
When the day comes you will no longer be here,
For you my grandmother I will shed many tears.
There will be a day when we shall meet again,
Up in god’s heaven where life never ends.
MY LOVABLE GRANDFATHER by Nora Hetrick

You always had to be the only serious one,
But you made life happy and full of fun.
When the sun did not shine so ever bright,
That’s when you made me see the other sights.
So very stern in your soft spoken words,
I’d serve my punishment without any erge.
Sometimes I’d see you watching me out play,
With you knowing that I’d grow up someday.
The time that we have spent together in life,
Has left me with memories and things to realize.
I miss you so much now that you’ve gone,
With all of my thoughts that will linger on.
THOUGHT FOR TEENS by Nora Hetrick

You would succeed to accomplish,
Before putting goals to chance.
You should listen to advice,
Before taking responsibility in decisions.
You can respect to obey,
Before loosing morals in actions.
You could honor to cherish,
Before making reputation a grief.
You might consider to think,
Before causing health a disease.
You have living to learn,
Before giving life to teach.
PARENTAL THOUGHTS by Nora Hetrick

Gazing at pictures upon the wall,
As our children grow ever so tall.
Someday we’ll look back in wonderment,
Treasuring our thoughts in those moments.
Time goes by all so fast,
Hope these memories all will last.
The future holds a lot for them,
But do not know what is then.
As they mature in due time,
Will it be a standing line?
We to them can wish best,
Up to each is the rest.
Life is not an easy one,
A lot to do can be done.
Guidance is the light of way,
We as parents show the way.
ROSES by Nora Hetrick

Thorn covered branches
protruding from the ground,
Green serrated leaves
sprouting to rebound.
Long slender stems
growing towards the sky,
Little buds encased
peeking not to hide.
Soft round petals
forming as they bloom,
Fragrant sweet aroma
smelling like perfume.
Vibrant bright colors
gleaming with such beauty,
Delicate showy flowers
standing tall in glory.
MAJESTIC MACAWS by Nora Hetrick

Long and slender
so graceful in flight,
Oh what a beautiful
wonder of the sight.
Many tones of colors
various sizes too,
From the small green Noble
to the big Hyacinthine blue.
A few species are extinct
from this parrot family,
But those that still survive
are losing habitat to forestry.
I hope that in the future
this great bird still exists,
Such a shame it would be
to be on the no-longer list.
GRANDPARENTS ARE SPECIAL by Nora Hetrick

Grandparents are special
in so many different ways,
Their hearts are filled with love
and they brighten up our days.
Grandparents are great listeners
when we need them to advise,
Because they’re always understanding
and are truly very wise.
Grandparents have great smiles
because they’ve been smiling for so long,
And they even make us smile
when everything is going wrong.
Few can bring the warmth
that can be found in their embrace,
And little more is needed to feel loved
than the smile on their face.
They’re a supply of precious stories
yet they’ve time to wipe a tear,
And give us reasons to laugh
as they grow more precious through the years.
Nobody can do for grandchildren
what grandparents are willing to do,
Because grandparents sprinkle stardust
over our lives in all that we do.
Grandparents are so generous
and they make sure we have the best,
So I’m thankful for my grandparents
and I know I’m truly blessed.
May the land yield unto them
a perfumed garden always growing,
With a warm breeze and a quiet sea
that’s filled with love overflowing.
A TRIBUTE TO SPLISH WHO DIED ON 6-18-2007 by Nora Hetrick

THE PERFECT PET
A pet that is unfairly hated
by many a person indeed,
Even though it is not evil
its reputation can mislead.
Persecuted through the ages
until finally someone thought,
To bring it into their home
and into their home it was brought.
Through very careful breeding
and with a kind and caring hand,
An affectionate creature came to be
that learned to live in harmony with man.
The rat is now domesticated
a pet that can show us love,
An animal that once instilled such fear,
is now considered an angel from above.
DEATH by Nora Hetrick

Sometimes life can be shortened
whether you’re human or animal.
A day will come that a reason calls
to say that ones time is now ended.
Behind will be left a deep emptiness
even though memories are over flowing.
There will be some that need to fulfill
that void of loneliness or desire.
Companion or mate it does not matter
there is always some need for another.
Nothing would exist in this world
without some type of propagation.
Life will go on in every situation
and everything will continue to be.
TORTURED MIND by Nora Hetrick

Memories from the past still haunt me,
So wish they would just let me be.
The nighttime lingers for to last,
As daylight seems to quickly pass.
My dreams turn into nightmares,
With some that leave me really scared.
I sometimes try not to sleep,
So not to wake for to weep.
Why can I not forget,
The things I’d rather just be let?
When will these thoughts go away,
And let me have a peaceful day?
DAISIES AND BUTTERCUPS by Nora Hetrick

Frilly green leaves
on a long stem,
With soft white petals
sewn on with a hem.
They’re standing tall
with reaching hand
for butterflies to land.
Little yellow polka dots
dancing all around,
Back and forth
in the breeze
with barely a sound.
Two pretty flowers
so fair in this weather,
Seems as if it be meant
they are paired together.
OUR ENDING by Nora Hetrick

You ripped my heart to a total shred,
My soul feels as if it were dead.
You messed up my mind with your words,
My thoughts are lost in all I’ve heard.
You played me for whatever you could,
My emotions run low never knew they would.
You used me up in all your games,
My feelings are gone never being the same.
You lied to me from in the beginning,
My trust for you will now be ending.
You said that we were meant to be,
My dreams are now not you and me.
NO MORE US by Nora Hetrick

You’ve cheated on me from within the heart,
You never loved me from in the start.
You’ve had your mind on someone else,
You played my mind on something false.
I’ll shed no tears for all the loss,
I have no tears for what I’ve lost.
I’m tired of being a fool for you,
I don’t want being a hurt and used.
We’ve had fun times now they are gone,
We’ve shared some time now are alone.
We could have had but you chose another,
We should have had but now it’s over.
