LOVE WITHIN A ROSE by Sonila Reka

When a rose is not being looked after
The rose will slowly dry
When love starts to be forgotten
The love will slowly die.

When a rose pricks you
It doesn’t hurt for long
When love breaks your heart
The pain is too strong.

When a rose starts to open
It has a beautiful smell
When love starts to grow
It feels like heaven and not hell.

When too many raindrops fall upon the rose
It will eventually destroy its existence
When love is washed with unhappy tears
It will gradually keep a far distance.

Ah you seem so invisible
I’ve never seen your face
I don’t even know if you are a woman or man
But you’ve created my days

I hope one day I’ll find the path

SMOKING! by Sonila Reka

How cool do I look, with a fag upon my hand?
My mother always told me not to smoke
‘Smoking is bad for you’ is what she would always say
But I never listened to her as she spoke

Mum never understood how good smoking really was
She thought I smoked because I was young
But every time when mum saw me smoking
She said, “ You are going to damage your lung”

She would look at my teeth, and say a little speech
“You teeth shall turn yellow and not remain white”
She would go on forever and never stop complaining
But obviously I thought she was wrong and I was right

Every time mum saw me smoking a fag
She would tell me that I was beautiful
But if I don’t stop smoking it would damage my skin
She’d say, “If you don’t see what smoking does then you are a fool”

And now my mum says nothing to me
With me she seems to suffer my last pain
Because of smoking soon I am going to die of cancer
Everything is my fault I have no one else to blame

Smoke if you wish, it’s your life at the end of the day
Damage your lungs, take your life apart
But always remember you might do damage to yourself
But you are also damaging other people’s hearts!

As the darkness slowly surrounded the day
We gossiped and enjoyed the time
But I never thought things would end up that way
Where I had the heart to say you were mine

I didn’t want you to be anything else but a friend
You were not allowed to know what I really did feel
I didn’t want our friendship to come to an end
Until that day when everything seemed so real

Suddenly silence surrounded the dark
What you were thinking about I did ask
As I looked into your eyes I saw a deceiving spark
“I want to kiss you” you replied at last

I pretended what you said I did not hear
But just than my heart must have missed a beat
To say something back I did not dare
I tried to pretend it was all a joke even though I found it sweet

Not soon after your imagination became so true
A word to nobody I shall say about this
The truth shall always remain between me and you
Now hush…. I shall write no more about the secret kiss

I am a thousand miles away
From finding the end to this nightmare
Darkness seems to never leave me alone
I can’t wait to see reality I swear

I am a thousand miles away
From hearing my own lasting cries
But one day I will learn how to smile
And light shall soon fill my eyes

I am a thousand miles away
For others to feel my heart beat
I might be weak for a while
But soon I will stand on my own two feet

I am a thousand miles away
From facing the one thing that brought me on earth
Sometimes I get scared that’s why I push and kick
But I can’t wait until mother gives me birth

I am here at last but now I am gone again
Everything I thought of doing was just a lie
The thing that brought me to life also took it away
Because she didn’t want me, I had to die

I wouldn’t have hurt anyone I am sure of that
Why did you decide to give me life and end it so quick?
I swear I wouldn’t have bothered you mother
I would have said ‘I am fine’ even when I felt sick

Mother I waited for you to give me light
“I love you” that’s what I wanted to hear you say
I waited for months to escape that darkness
And all you do is take this all away

Mother I will wait for you day and night
When I see you I will not push you away as well
When you come to heaven and see me I will say, “I love you mum”

There she is cleaning the floor
How could the evil stepsisters treat her like this?
She didn’t believe in happy endings
But her happy ending ended with that magical kiss

Her beauty is nowhere to be found
But why did she fall for those looks of his?
He was a true beast that lived on his own
But he turned into a prince when she gave him that kiss

That evil witch tried to kill the innocent girl
Is that what jealousy is?
To murder those who are better than you
But then she finds out she was saved by the prince’s kiss

She slept for more than one hundred years
She was a beautiful princess
Who was put to sleep by the evil fairy
But she was awoken when the prince gave her the kiss

He was not meant to love someone
Why did he give love a miss?
But strangely he was the person
Who gave Wendy that hidden kiss

Ah these fairy tales how they all end in a kiss
Does this show that happy endings exist without fail?
But then I will never find my happy ending
Because I am not living a fairy tale!
