understanding what's what
The long stretch between life and the next
Between real, fake, and failing the test

Birth, growing, finally giving up
Being fit, dieting, just plain fat
Learning, forgetting, not having opinion
Passion, not caring, sinking to oblivion

Longing, wishing, spreading your wings
Passing a break point, not able to swing
Exceeding faked limits, then landing again
Dreaming of others, of pleasure and pain

Open a while then completely shot
Sure, maybe, and certainly not
The long stretch, meaningful then abstract
The long stretch of knowing nothing about
The brain goes to town

Almighty brain went to town
do some shopping look around
took the flesh that he invented
a great machine already tested

On his way felt a sudden prickle
another brain moving in a circle
the void feeled with a new wave
crowdy busy place must behave

Electricity different objects all around
had to comprehend messages going inbound
sending his just to get by
dodging obstacles cars and flies

His front scopes saw a reward
dopamine released he went towards
another brain negotiated his listening device
telling about quality quoting the price

The brain wanted to buy and than get a rest
take his reward and back to the nest
rehearsing at home all data recollect
making further decisions up to date

He decided to reunite permanently with the flesh
starting a new starting a fresh
having body and ego around wasn't so tough
as long as the other brains went the same path
Easy&hard enough by Josef Firestone

                          Easy&hard enough

It seems easy enough
to say the right words
it seems easy enough
to read the good books

It seems easy enough
to write about your dreams
it seems easy enough
to believe it's not what it seems

It looks hard enough
to think you are just one
it looks hard enough
to observe how far you have gone

It looks hard enough
to perceive there are others in you
it looks hard enough
to know your world is not true

It looks hard enough
to tell illusion from real
it seems easy enough
to find what is concealed

It can be easy or hard
to see some habbits are developed from youth
hard or easy enough
to observe patterns walking away from truth
highways in head leading nowhere
creating disorder confusion despair

Easy or hard together alone
the truth is naked to the bone
what looks like or seems as is usually wrong
perceive believe observe same old song

Around around evolving or not
enjoy a good movie a book or a chat
avoid wanting something you can hold
cherish being happy not silver or gold

Nothing is hard easy or in between
your life is not what you think it has been
hard easy what it seems how it looks
for your mind&brain it is all in a day's work
Firestone

              The robot

The robot listened to the tape once again
than nodded his human head in some pain
why couldn’t he just do what is right
open a switch or turn on the light

Not even one day passing by
not watching a movie about other robots lives
coming to conclusions already there
making assumptions too cautious to dare

He wanted to participate but lacked the software
always dependent on others for care
deep down he had feelings sure of that
under the tag he was free but for what

One day in a blackout his circuits mixed up
not shutting down he lightened got a shot
storm passing through took his cover away
inside only cables very much a stray

No longer in shackles just being a dude
wandering freely where walls once stood
listening to tapes and watching cassettes
about friendly robots who not yet ascaped Firestone

          How to choose a lover

To choose a lover
not a simple task
to choose a friend
who always takes you back

Choosing to feel alive
is not a simple way
having a meaning
to life of everyday

To say ok that is mr right
is not making a light choice
saying i want this lady more than all
not listening to reason voice

To choose a lover
a friend for life
maybe living together
as husbend and wife

Are we compatible
from the right street
a doctor a nurse how much money
do we really really fit

Before you start
make a short list
who is the one
wanting to commit

Is it the one afraid to be alone
or the youngster not yet gone
is this the voice that shouts you must
or something in you long forgot

How to choose a lover
is something you learn
how to find the partner
you really and sincerely yearn

To choose a lover
is very simple in fact
it boils down to one thing
do you really love her / him or not Josef Firestone

Just woke up and quickly turned
The lights and radio, became attuned
Partly listening to explanations why
Why to live and why other people die

Last night dream joined the fragmented team
Glimpse of reality well inside the main stream
Back in the coach, brown leather saddle
The horse, the groovy MPV the struggle

Wore his Stetson hat and friendly mask
Ventured to the prairie back on dusty track
Another day of chase without a substantial hunt
Contemplating on near future and an imagined past

Back in town stepped back on sandy soil
The one he trod with phony legs
Not really certain what comes or happens next
Regressed back to the ranch to hoarder’s nest

The trend, fake, illusion all remarkably bold
Mixed with the desert heat and the night’s cold
Modern cowboy will wake up tomorrow and say
I am good and ready for another precious day

Tha Real Image by Josef Firestone

The image of the one still young
Youth and cheerfulness that now are gone
Of so called better times and looks
Love and air is all it took

Gambelig our health will hold
Hoping we would for once strike gold
Conditioned minds are fast and happy to agree
There is plenty choice and we are always free

Real image changes with time, who cares
To leave the old one, no one dares
Family gather expecting the welcome known
Trying to confirm they are rightly born

So delighted to live in the mind museum
Faked recollections are nicely framed
All one needs to do is carefully dust away
What does not fit, what can not stay

The one who crave will shut the door
Of musty gardens and inner war
To many methods and taking sides
Real image then appears and honorable Mr. White
saying the words aloud
his heart covered with right hand
we must first believe in Blue sand

if we all think alike
not deaf
Demanding obedience and complete faith

Knowledge samples all those unchecked facts
Points of view declared in long gone past
A split second of recollection separates free and clear
From deviations of mind seemingly far or near

The void unattainable, untouched or defined
Like guardian angels, soul mates or secret wine
Where memory stops the It begins
Like all unknown sources not to be seen

were by Josef Firestone

The way we were

Small waves broke gently on deserted shore
Retreated then came back to mingle
The beauty of this evening’s sunset
At last together, not as single
No thought passed, no words exchanged
The way we were

Noisy cars, low decks you name it
Ugliness, drains litter all around
Shouts, profanities right and left
City dwellers, tunnels downtown bound
Escaping on the order of the day
We were that way

Around the table laughter heard
Debating if a movie was really good
Balancing accounts, conscience and recollection
Being content with life’s progression
After all in our mind we travelled far
The way we are

Up high or low we opened our eyes
For the first time
Surrounded by rays of light
Bright yet soft
A gentle ray approached, a blur
Revealing we never were
